The post I can’t believe I’m posting.

This is what you get with me … feast or famine.

I hope those of you reading are enjoying the feast.

And since I was talking about pictures today, I thought I’d share one more of yours truly along with the ever-precious Mad Hatter.

It has been a long evening and I’m questioning my sanity in posting this – as my husband just told me, “You got balls.”

Well honey, when you leave for a meeting and MH says “Well, Mommy, look like it’s just you and me!” this is the sort of thing that happens:

For the record, I was not the hair-stylist.

Would you believe that MH got the idea to take a snapshot of us on the webcam and send it to Twitter?

Well.

Girls just wanna have fun.

Mommy Learns to Sew

Actually, Mommy has been learning to sew for some time. More on that in another post, although if you're a friend on Facebook or Twitter, then you know a bit about my sewing endeavors. Sadly, I have yet to write a proper post on said endeavors due to things like work, quitting work, being sick, my back acting up, a severe migraine (currently on day 8 and counting the days until Saturday when I see a neurologist).

Anyways. I can't wait to share my current adventures with all of you, and that will be coming in a blog post of its own, hopefully very soon!

In the meantime, I'm trying hard to get back into the habit of blogging, even it my posts are on the short side. Hmmm, so people may prefer the Mommy Learns to Blog "getting back into it" style!

So, I have been wanting to try out a new technique involving creating fabric ruffles. I have a vision of an outfit I want to make for the Mad Hatter's birthday party, but given that it's just 4 days away and we've yet to make a final decision on a cake (let alone that it's a rare moment I'm actually enjoying being vertical because the pain of this headache is slightly reduced), it may not happen. And to be honest, I'm completely okay with that.

I viewed some tutorials and a couple of youtube.com videos and went to town with some scrap fabric. I think I did alright with the technique, and it seemed a shame to throw the piece out, but I wasn't sure what I'd ever use it for.

Until ... I thought about all of the MH's Barbie dolls and how this might just make a swimming little spring dress.

What do you think? Darling! Perfect for a lovely spring/summer afternoon picnic date.

Take a closer look. I don't think it matters what we think because I think Ken will just love it. Given the dimensions of Barbie's hot little figure, I think next time I'd do better to work in a stretchy material. In order to get this on over her hips, it's a hair big around the chest. In fact, I think Barbie will be spending most of the time at the picnic either hiking that baby up, or just giving it up and getting lucky!

For the record, my sewing project for MH does not include a dress.

And secondly, this blog post doesn't seem quite as short as I envisioned it.

WW - If a picture is worth a thousand words . . .

Then this one is most definitely going down in the family books.

Most likely for blackmail purposes, say when she hits her teen years and doesn't remember these good old days when she promised us she'd never give us attitude as a teen, would always be as lovey and snuggly as she is right now, we'll forever be her best friends in the whole world, maybe around prom time . . .

Anyways, a few weeks ago, we went on MH's first field trip, to a local farm. So much fun - riding a schoolbus, going on a hayride, picking a pumpkin. But the best part? The driver stopped several times along the hayride to show us different veggies grown on the farm, and even passed veggies around for the kids to touch and examine.

To say I have a child who LOVES vegetables is an understatement. She BEGS for tomatoes for dessert. She picks spinach out of my pasta fagioli soup, leaves the rest, and begs for more. We bribe her with veggie "treats" to get her to eat her meals.

So, imagine her delight when the farmer passed around fresh parsley (she ate an entire bunch), a green pepper (she grabbed it and ate it like an apple), and this "pickle", which she and her BFF actually fought over!

BFF's mom and I were chatting away when we suddenly heard lots of giggles and commotion. We looked to find that they were each eating said "pickle" with reckless abandon, and having the best. time. ever.

I was snapping away with my camera and did not realize until I uploaded my pics that I had captured the best shot ever.

Seriously - this one will forever by the one that makes me stop, laugh hysterically, and remember that day as if it were yesterday. I especially love the stalk of parsley (boy, did she have sweet breath!) held tightly in her little mittened hand!

MH - you never fail to make mommy smile, and in this case, laugh until my belly aches!

There's NO Time!

There's NEVER ANY TIME!

I will admit that I am a complete dork and love, love, love Saved by the Bell.

I loved it during it's original airings, when I would lounge around on Saturday mornings in my jammies watching Zack and Slater out-prank each other to earn the affections of the lovely Kelly Kapowski.

I loved watching Saved by the Bell the College Years.

Even the cheesy Saved by the Bell made for TV Friday night movies.

And even post college, watching reruns first thing in the morning, as I was getting ready for work.

There are many lines and episodes that I know by heart and actually use rather frequently.

Yes, I live a sad, sad life.

Anyways, I have been stressed out this week because I've got so much to blog about but not a free second to do so.

I guess that's good - we've been so busy enjoying summer that I've had no time to get in front of my computer to blog about it.

Then there's the whole dilemma of how to spend the little time I do have on the computer - worrying about my own blog, responding to comments, or blog hopping so I don't get so behind in my reader.

SUCH dilemmas, I tell you!

So, running through my brain for the last 4 days has been the classic Jessie Spano caffeine pill addiction freakout episode.

All I can hear is Jessie screaming dramatically, in the episode that I believe was her acting breakthrough "There's NO time, there's never any time!" as she frantically reaches for more pills and scatters them all over her bed (much to Zack's chagrin).

For those of you who don't remember (and if you don't, were you living under a rock??), this is the one where Jessie takes on too many things, gets hooked on caffeine pills, finally passes out from exhaustion, and freaks out when Zack comes to pick her up to go to the Max to perform with Lisa and Kelly in Hot Sundae in front of a record agent.

Such a moving episode - one the hubby and I actually created our own little preview ad for - "Get the family together - it's a special Saved by the Bell episode you WON'T want to miss (spoken in very serious tone by voice-over announcer)."

I thought I'd entertain you all with a clip of the actual part where Jessie says those lines about there never being enough time, but sadly, the only clips are of the part that immediately follows. I have to say, I was amazed at just how many clips/spoofs of this actually exist on YouTube!

So, for your viewing pleasure:

I hope you get as much of a chuckle out of this as DH and I just did!

And we're off to yet another summer party, but I promise to come back with some proper posts ASAP this week!

In the meantime, leave me a comment - what is your fave Saved by the Bell episode?
